Our History

The Law Association of Zambia was established shortly after Zambia's independence to unite the country's legal practitioners under a single, self-regulating professional body.

Over more than six decades, LAZ has grown alongside the nation's legal system — from a small association of pioneering advocates to a national body representing thousands of legal practitioners across every province.

Throughout its history, the Association has played a central role in the development of Zambian law, the defence of judicial independence, and the advancement of access to justice for ordinary citizens.
